Following World War II, a group of intellectuals in New York became some of the most influential critics and writers in the country. This group included some women and non-Jews, but all its members embraced a secular Jewish machismo that came to define the era. In "Write Like a Man" University of Oklahoma professor Ronnie Grinberg dissects this fascinating chapter in American literature that includes such names as Norman Mailer, Hannah Arendt, Irving Howe, and more.
