Week Two: It’s a “good” pain!

Our first week of workouts is behind us. Whew! I feel really good about it. As we move through this second week, my girlfriends are finding that they’re not as sore as they were in the first week. And, I don’t think that they quite believe me that it’s okay not to be that sore this week. My friend Christy is the most adamant about this. She’s the one who will push it to the limit EVERY SINGLE TIME we work out. She’s my running partner also and I see her do this all the time. She wants to “one up” herself at every go. If we ran five miles last time, we’re running six miles today! In this way, I think we’re a good match in terms of workout partners. She pushes me to go a little farther than maybe I even want to; I keep her from pushing past the point of hurting herself.

Our other partner, Vilona is simply fun to work out with. She’s not as familiar with the exercises or the proper form of things as Christy and I are. But, I think we both enjoy teaching her and showing her new “moves.”  We also love showing Vilona that her body can do things she never thought it could do. I love being part of the process of someone figuring out just how strong they really are!

I’m becoming a little bit more comfortable with the flow of this program. And, I have to say that it’s really been easy for me to stick to the workouts. This week was two lower body workouts and one upper body workout along with three days of cardio. In case you’re interested in knowing more about the Body for Life program, you can check out this link.

The eating plan really has been the hardest part for me again this week. This is pretty much the story of my life. I live for “cheat” days.  Even throughout the week, I’ll find every excuse imaginable to cheat on this eating plan. I am constantly fighting that voice in my head saying, “Must have chocolate. Must have chocolate. Make brownies.   Make brownies.” It’s ridiculous!  Someone once said (probably some naturally skinny person) that nothing tastes as good as being thin feels. WHATEVER! That person never had any of my grandma’s fried chicken and homemade baked macaroni and cheese!
