  • Meg: Summer Homework

Summer is in full swing for activities. It seems as if my kids go from one camp to the other these first three weeks of June. Right now they’re at an all day outside camp and it is hot! You can’t help but worry about your little ones in this type of heat. A parent gave me a little hint. She told me to freeze two water bottles for each child overnight.  Send three altogether per child.
  • Meg: Here comes summer

Time for summer. Are you ready? Two of my children are officially out of school and they are excited to run free. I’m letting them do that for a week, then it’s time for summer activities. I’ll admit, it is tough to pick and choose which ones they should do and what you can afford.
  • Meg: Staycation Spring Break Fun

Happy Spring Break everyone! I know that many schools are out this week and that means family togetherness.  Some of you may be lucky enough to go on vacation, perhaps skiing or the beach. Some of you may be like my family. We are home and making the best of it. Each day we try to organize something exciting to do.
  • Meg: 2009 Resolutions—Start at Amazing

Here’s a thought for all of us as we enter the New Year. Instead of making resolutions to better ourselves in all the ways we fall short, why not resolve to feel good about what we’re already doing well.
  • Linda: Talking Turkey

I’m almost afraid to admit it. But, I’ve gone more than five decades without ever having to fix a Thanksgiving turkey. Not once. Not even close. Don’t know the first thing about it.
  • Meg: Ready to eat?

Are you ready to eat? It seems like we start with Thanksgiving and the eating and drinking doesn’t stop until New Year’s Day. From work parties to school parties to neighborhood parties, there is always some excuse to overindulge.  Recently, I got a wake-up call when I had my metabolism checked....
  • Linda: Bedlam Bet Dilemma

I could be in trouble this year. I need your help. There’s a date at the end of my November calendar that I’ll either celebrate or dread. It’s time for the Bedlam Bet. Kevin Ogle and I have had a bet every year for the past decade. I admit that I’ve been lucky.
  • Meg: Happy Halloween

Just a few days until Halloween. My kids have already attended a host of parties at school, gymnastics and church. They’ve had a year’s worth of sugar and the big day isn’t even here yet. I suspect your family is much like mine when it comes to candy.
  • Meg: A beautiful Oklahoma weekend to share

After a few days of rain and cold it is nice to see the sun again. Let’s face it, this is one of the best times of the year when it comes to weather. Beautiful 70 degree days allow us to get all the outside chores done with a smile.
  • Meg: Keeping it all straight with the new fall schedule

Well we’re heading into October and my family has finally adjusted to this year’s school schedule. The first six weeks of the school year always seem to be a blur as we figure out each child’s weekly schedule and how we’re going to get them where they need to go. I have found something that helps me get organized for the week.
  • Linda: The blank spot of dirt

It's a simple stretch of dirt. Unremarkable real estate. Yet all summer it's been a sore spot for me. A constant reminder that I can't do everything.
